Pre Waihe‘e water tunnel- Going into this field trip I can only imagine the different pathways and passages that were made in order to let the flow of water reach all of its access points. the fact that when the different farmers we're not allowed to the different water resources that would be provided from the waive‘e streams. Slowly their crops began to die off and as a result they took matters into their own hands. They contacted the court and demanded that more water be distributed to their lands. Post Waihe‘e water tunnel- Starting with the hike I first thought of it as overwhelming but as soon as we hit the waterfall there was instant relief. reflecting back it made me think of the great lengths that those before us went to in order to get the simple necessities that we need in life. most times we take for granite the things that we ourselves might not have to fetch ourselves and how easily they can be taken away or destroyed.

‘Ōlelo No‘eau
Mōhalaikawaikamakaokapua. (Unfoldedbythewaterarethefacesofflowers.– Pukui,̒ŌleloNo‘eau2178.) The saying is better understood as, "flowers thrive where there is water, as thriving people are found where living conditions are good."We as people who in a time had considered water to be the greatest treasure, it was something that was dawned upon as wealth. Our ancestors knew there would be no life without it. We continue to thrive off of what we are given the but take for granted what we think will last us a lifetime. In order for our childrenʻs children and so forth to be able to live in such paradise and have accessible drinking water." In a lot of cases we as humans would rather ask for forgiveness then to ask for permission" Itʻll be up to us to the be the change that we wanna see.
Survival Of The Fittest
How might we survive off of a gallon of water a day? Naturally we need water for our basic necessities such as hygiene, to brush our teeth, take a shower and use toilets. That goes along with cooking, watering crops or gardens and most importantly drinking . Although having to cut back on water usage would be a challenge, one would need to distribute their water evenly in some areas more than others. For instance, about half a gallon for drinking per day is ideal, but being that under the circumstances we would need to reduce that amount to be less to almost half of a liter, which about two cups. As for showering purposes its expected that we would need more which would come down to a liter and half leaving almost another liter and a half to use for cooking and laundry. although it seems like this would never be something that we would actually have to face and live like its very real and can easily happen.
CTAHR - Waimanalo research center
It was a place like no other, the research center had a little bit of everything, in one area there were fields of sugarcane in another there were dry taro patches, and aquaponics labs that were similar to our own. Not only did we take in the view but we contributed our efforts by picking and cleaning Kalo then planting them into the soil from the aquaponics labs. as well as creating new rows within the mulch and have it be prepared for a new set of vegetation. As we were resting in the hale, one of the aunties explained to all of us that she still is earning different degrees in order to be taken seriously by those who op for them to sustain and keep the research center. she spoke on how everything you do in life even after school requires education. "continue to learn and earn yourself degreeʻs so that there is nothing or no-one telling you otherwise when trying to make a difference in your culture".
